What is Scarlet Fever?

Scarlet Fever is a bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, the same bacteria responsible for strep throat. It primarily affects children between the ages of 5 and 15, but adults can also be infected. Scarlet Fever is characterized by a bright red rash, high fever, and sore throat, and it spreads through respiratory droplets or direct contact with an infected person.

When treated early, it usually resolves without complications, but if left unmanaged, it can lead to more serious health issues such as rheumatic fever or kidney inflammation.

Symptoms of Scarlet Fever

  1. High fever and sore throat
  2. Bright red rash with a sandpaper-like texture
  3. Flushed face with pale mouth area
  4. Swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches
  5. Red, swollen tongue ("strawberry tongue")
  6. Headache, nausea, or abdominal pain
  7. Peeling skin (especially on fingers and toes during recovery)

Natural Support for Scarlet Fever

To help reduce fever, soothe discomfort, and support immune recovery, our practitioners recommend:

  1. CH102 Feverfew Tincture – Traditionally used to naturally reduce fevers and inflammation, Feverfew supports the body’s immune response and helps ease headaches and body aches often associated with Scarlet Fever.

Natural Ways to Support Recovery from Scarlet Fever

  1. Encourage rest – The body heals faster when it's allowed to fully rest.
  2. Stay well-hydrated – Herbal teas, water, and broths help flush toxins and soothe the throat.
  3. Eat light, nourishing foods – Focus on fruits, soups, and steamed vegetables to support recovery.
  4. Gargle with salt water or herbal rinses – Helps reduce throat inflammation and bacteria.
  5. Keep skin cool and dry – The rash can become irritated with excess heat or moisture.
  6. Boost immunity with vitamin C-rich foods – Citrus fruits, berries, and leafy greens.
  7. Avoid contact with others during active symptoms – To prevent the spread of infection.

Note: Scarlet Fever should be monitored carefully, especially in children. If the fever persists or new symptoms develop, consult a healthcare provider. Natural remedies are supportive but should be used alongside professional care if needed
